A Notary Public is a representative of the Secretary of State. Her job is to verify the identity of the signatory and assure that the signer understands the contents of the document he is signing and is doing so of his own free will. Secondarily, she confirms that the document(s) is filled out in full. A Notary Public is not responsible for the integrity of the document.
Chances are that the document you possess is a copy of the
original; the original has already been submitted. You would think that a photocopy of a document is a reliable representation of the original document, but that isn’t necessarily what ends up happening. Any part of the document could have been altered and recopied. Sometimes the alteration is done so well it takes an
expert to sort out the changes.
This calls for the services of a Forensic Document Examiner.
If you have a vehicle that is used for business (Landscaper, service truck) you must have a US DOT Number. If you haul goods that you own within your state or if you cross state lines to deliver those goods you must also have a DOT Number.
Companies that operates commercial vehicles transporting passengers or hauling cargo in interstate commerce must have a USDOT number and MC Number. Also, commercial intrastate hazardous materials carriers who haul quantities requiring a safety permit must register for a USDOT Number. The USDOT Number serves as a unique identifier when collecting and monitoring a company’s safety information acquired during audits, compliance reviews, crash investigations, and inspections.
IA 2290 Form is the Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax (HHVUT). It must be filed and paid annually for every truck that drives on public highways and weighs over 55,000 lbs. Once you file your 2290 Form, a Stamped Schedule 1 will be provided to you through this website as your receipt for this Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax. A physical copy is required to register your vehicles each year. We will keep a copy of the Schedule 1 for the current year available on your account so you can always have access to it.
The 2290 Form is due annually between July 1 and August 31.
Both the tax return and the Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax must be paid by the deadline in order to avoid penalties and interest. This tax must also be paid anytime a new vehicle is added to your fleet for the remainder of that year. In this case the tax is due by the end of the month following the date the vehicle is first used on the public highways. Read our Date of First Use Article for more details about picking the right date
We recommend that you e-file your 2290 Form a minimum of five business days before the filing deadline.
